Elmer A. Hamlin Elmer A. Hamlin was born in Delanco Feb 6, 1920 to Charles & Ethel Hamlin. The family lived in several locations around Delanco. Elmer attended Palmyra High School. The family was active in First Presbyterian Church. Elmer married Margaret Marie McCullough in Delanco on December 26, 1942. He enlisted in the US Army on January 27, 1942 at Fort Dix and was assigned to the 15th Inf, 3rd Div as a PFC. He served in Europe and was involved in the assault on Enzio, Italy. He died of wounds received on February 10, 1944, one day after he landed. He was 24-years old. He was initially buried in Nettuno, Italy, but was reinterred in Beverly National Cemetery in 1948. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Elmer was was listed on the original Delanco WW II Honor Roll. US Army, PFC 15th Inf, 3rd Div WWII, Italy 1920 – 1944 KIA
